Piano Days Copenhagen 2020 invites you into the wonderful world of the piano. A world consisting of no less than 8000 moving pieces, spanning more octaves than all the other orchestra instruments put together and enveloping history from the aristocratic salons of Vienna to shabby saloons of the wild west and further on to every modern home with wishful parents. From this wide expance of music history Piano Days Copenhagen will focus on a new generation of musicians, who have in common that they are pianists and composers combined. Piano Days Copenhagen 2020 will be presenting nine concerts that feature perfect fusions of technical ability and compositionel technique, music that expresses each artists personal and innovative vision.

Piano Days Copenhagen is inspired by an idea by pianist Nils Frahm to arrange piano concerts everywhere on the 88th day of the year - referencing the 88 keys of the piano. Frahm came up with this idea in 2016 and it has since grown into a global event with more than 100 concerts in 30 different countries. The first Piano Days event in Copenhagen took place in 2019 at Koncertkirken Blågårds Plads and consisted of an evening with four concerts.

In 2020 the event has grown into a proper festival with a programme spanning three evenings of concerts at three different venues. The first day of the festival takes place at café Bobuska in the inner city of Copenhagen. Two international artists will perform their intimate compositions inspired by the classical tradition. The second day is at the watertower in Brønshøj. This will be an evening of electroacoustic music that will melt together with the unique acoustics of the venue. The final evening consists of four concerts at Koncertkirken Blågårds Plads. Four very talented and very different artists will present music ranging from rock, jazz, folk and further on to sound experimentation. Especially for Piano Days Copenhagen 2020 Signe Høirup Wille-Jørgensen - singer and guitarplayer in Speaker Bite Me and Jomi Massage - will arrange her songs for cembalo and harpsichord - the forerunners to the pianoforte used in the 16th and 17th centuries.
